Colorado Law Requires Testing

Before any renovation or demolition which might disturb materials suspected of containing asbestos, an inspection must be performed by a certified Building Inspector as required by Section III.A.4 of Regulation 8.

Why Should You Test for Asbestos?

Asbestos is one of the leading causes of lung cancer.

When materials containing asbestos are disturbed by something as simple as sanding or drilling, fibers are released into the air.

Inhaling those fibers can cause serious diseases like asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma.

Though it may take years, the risk of developing one of these life-threatening diseases increases with the amount of exposure and by smoking tobacco products.

When is Asbestos a Problem?

Asbestos fibers are commonly released into the air during various types of construction work.

Asbestos exposure usually does not occur if asbestos-containing materials are left undisturbed.

It is important to keep in mind that asbestos fibers travel through the air, so the danger to your health and the health of others is not necessarily located close by such as in your home or office.

The bottom line is if you’re planning a construction project, you’ll need an asbestos test.

Mike is great, explains the purpose of his inspection, very friendly, easy to talk to. If you are going to do a remodel, and your not sure weather your tearing out asbestos, lead based paint etc. Then give Them a call. Kudos.

I definitely hesitate to write bad reviews but I really feel inclined to share my experience with Teton. I requested lead and asbestos testing, which was quickly scheduled and done. The asbestos testing report was returned promptly, as expected. No issues at all. The lead testing was a whole different story. While the person who came to test (I believe to be the owner of the company, but I could be wrong) was nothing but friendly and kind, his ability to do the basic function of lead testing is wildly questionable. After the testing, we didn't get a report for a week. After multiple attempts at following up, I got him on the phone and he said "oh it's not you, it was definitely me, I don't know how to use our system." I still didn't get the report for weeks longer, and followed up again and again. Eventually I received the report, and it states that lead was in the one wall that he didn't test, and that there was no lead in the walls he did test (even though he verbally said there WAS lead in those walls). Literally the worst possible outcome to claim something tests negative when its the exact opposite. Had we not been with him when he tested, this kind of stuff could be wildly detrimental. I've requested a revised report - shockingly, with no response! The real kicker here - I was talking about this with a neighbor and he literally stopped me and finished my story for me. He had the same exact experience, with the same exact company. Nice guy comes, tests, and then does not return report after repeated attempts, and then claims "technical difficulties." My neighbor never even got the report. Everyone is nice, and maybe it's just the lead guy who is not capable of his job, but what a bad industry to be in if you can't do the basics right.
